Is It Possible to Round off Decimal Numbers in Calculated Result?

If you want to round off calculated result, set the ROUND function in your formula.

Setting the ROUND Function

Shown below is the setting to multiply a tax-excluded amount by consumption tax rate (1.1) to calculate a tax-included amount.
You need to place a Number field where you enter a tax-excluded amount and a Calculated field where you calculate a tax-included amount, and then set a formula using the ROUND function.

Example
Field Name Field Code Field Type Formula
Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Number -
Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Calculated ROUND(tax_excluded_amount*1.1)
Note: In this example, the second argument '0' is omitted to get an integer value.

Setting the YEN Function: Text Field

In a Text field, you can use not only the ROUND function but also the YEN function to round off numbers.
If you use the YEN function, calculated result is displayed in "¥ (Yen)" using thousands separator. The calculated result is a string.

Placing Fields and Setting a Formula

Shown below is the setting to multiply a tax-excluded amount by consumption tax rate (1.1) to calculate a tax-included amount and round off that amount.
You need to place a Number field where you enter a tax-excluded amount and a Text field where you calculate a tax-included amount, and then set as follows.

Example
Field Name Field Code Field Type Formula
Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Number -
Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Text YEN(tax_excluded_amount * 1.1, 0)
Note: Select "Calculate automatically". YEN function requires 2 arguments. You cannot omit arguments in this example.

Setting the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" and the "Rounding"

Check the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" setting and the "Rounding" setting in the "Misc Settings".

  1. Click the app setting button Setting button on the upper right of the record view, select "App Settings" tab, and then select Misc Settings under "Advanced Settings".

  2. Check that the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" is set to "4", and the "Rounding" is set to "Round to nearest even number".
Settings of the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" and the "Rounding" are applied to calculated result in the app and to field values used in the formula.

  3. Click "Save" on the upper left side of the screen.

Click Update App on the upper right side of the screen, and click OK.

If you enter the tax-excluded amount of 980 after making the above setting, calculated result is displayed as follows.

  • Tax-excluded amount: 980
  • Tax-included amount: ¥1,078 (Auto-calculated amount)

In addition to the ROUND function and the YEN function, you can also use the "Precision of numbers and calculations" feature in "Misc Settings" to round numbers.
For information on how to use these features, see the Setting the Round Off, Round Down, or Round Up page.

Shown below is the way to round numbers using the "Precision of numbers and calculations" feature.

"Precision of Numbers and Calculations": Calculated Field

Set a formula in the Calculated field and set the value of "Precision of numbers and calculation".

Placing Fields and Setting a Formula

Shown below is the setting to multiply a tax-excluded amount by consumption tax rate (1.1) to calculate a tax-included amount and round off that amount.
Place following fields and set values.

Example
Field Name Field Code Field Type Formula Other settings
Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) Number - -
Rounding (rounding) Rounding (rounding) Number - Default Value: 5
Tax-included calculation (tax_included_calculation) Tax-included calculation (tax_included_calculation) Calculated tax_excluded_amount*110 -
Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) Calculated (tax_included_calculation/10+rounding)/10 -

Setting the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" and the "Rounding"

Set the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" and the "Rounding" in the "Misc Settings".

  1. Click the app setting button Setting button on the upper right of the record view, select "App Settings" tab, and then select Misc Settings under "Advanced Settings".

  2. Enter "0" for the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" of the Precision of numbers and calculations, and select "Round down" for the "Rounding".
Settings of the "Number of Decimal Places to Round" and the "Rounding" are applied to calculated result in the app and to field values used in the formula.

  3. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen, and then click Update App > OK on the upper right side of the screen.

If you enter the tax-excluded amount of 980 after making the above setting, calculated result is displayed as follows.

Example
Tax-excluded amount (tax_excluded_amount) 980
Rounding (rounding) 5
Tax-included calculation (tax_included_calculation) 107800 (Auto-calculated amount)
Tax-included amount (tax_included_amount) 1078 (Auto-calculated amount)

In the Rounding field, enter "9" for round up, "0" for round down, or "5" for round off.
You can also specify round up, round down, or round off, based on the value entered in the "Rounding" field.
