Every time a record is added, a sequential number is assigned to the Record number field automatically starting from "1".
You cannot change values in Record Number fields. Record numbers of deleted records are inactivated and will not be re-assigned.
Even when the Record number field is not placed on a form, it is automatically displayed when some actions are taken (for example, when filtering records).
Record numbers are assigned sequentially to enable distinguishing records.
For example, you can use this field as Application Number by changing its name in a task request app.
If you use the App Code feature, combination of an app code and a number becomes the record number.
For example, if you set the app code as "client", the value in the Record Number field becomes "client-1". In Kintone apps or spaces, any record number that includes an app code becomes a link to a corresponding record.
You can set a link to a specific client record by setting an app code in a customer management app and entering the record number in the comment field.
In the Lookup Settings, you can specify a record number as a copy source of the Field Mapping.
In the Datasource App, you can identify records using record numbers.
Setting Options for Record Number Fields
- Field Name
- Specifies a label for the field.
- Hide field name
- Hides the field names on the screens to add, edit, enter details of, and print records.
- Field Code
- The text string to specify this field (in an API).
