I'm not receiving desktop notifications

If you are not receiving Kintone desktop notifications, it may be due to one of the reasons listed below. Check the possible reasons and resolve the issue as necessary.

Setting Up Desktop Notifications

Desktop notifications have not been enabled in all of the necessary settings

To receive desktop notifications from Kintone, desktop notifications need to be enabled in all of the following settings.

  • Personal Settings in Kintone
  • Web browser's notification settings
  • OS's notification settings

See below for the steps to enable desktop notifications in each of the settings.

Enabling desktop notifications in Personal Settings in Kintone

Users who want to receive desktop notifications need to be using Kintone in a web browser and enable Desktop Notifications on the "Personal Settings" screen in Kintone by following the steps below.

  1. Click the Settings icon (the gear-shaped icon at the top of Kintone), then click Personal Settings.

  2. Select Enable under Desktop Notifications.

  3. Click Save.
    When a pop-up message appears in your web browser asking if you want to allow notifications sent from Kintone, select to allow notifications.

Allowing notifications from Kintone in web browser settings

When a user who wants to receive desktop notifications enables Desktop Notifications in their Personal Settings, a pop-up message will appear in their web browser asking if they want to allow notifications sent from Kintone. When this pop-up message appears, they should click Allow.

If the pop-up message does not appear in a user's web browser, they should allow notifications from Kintone in their web browser's notification settings.

Enabling desktop notifications in OS settings

Users who want to receive desktop notifications need to allow notifications from their web browser in the settings of the OS on which they are using Kintone.

  • For Windows: Configure the settings from Notifications in Settings.
  • For macOS: Configure the settings from Notifications in System Settings.

When "To Me" notifications were received in Kintone, Kintone was not open in a web browser tab

Desktop notifications only appear when Kintone is open in a tab in your web browser.

A web browser other than Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is being used to display Kintone

Desktop notifications can be received only when Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge is used as the web browser for Kintone.
If you are using a web browser other than Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you will not be able to receive desktop notifications.

"To Me" notifications were not received in Kintone

Desktop notifications only appear for "To Me" notifications.
You will not receive desktop notifications when you receive notifications other than "To Me" notifications.

A Kintone "To Me" notification was viewed in a web browser before the desktop notification could appear

There is a time delay between when a "To Me" notification is received in Kintone and when its desktop notification appears.
If you view the content of a "To Me" notification in your web browser before the desktop notification arrives, a desktop notification will not appear.
