Deleting Departments

Article Number:020163

This page describes how to delete departments.

Notes on Deleting Departments

  • You cannot undo the deletion of the department.
Deleting a parent department will delete its child departments.

  • If you delete a department, it will also be deleted from the "Membership" of the member user. The user will not be deleted.

  • The users who lost membership by the deletion of the department will be categorized as "Unassigned Users". Screenshot: "Unassigned Users" is highlighted

Permissions Associated with Departments

If you delete a department, the access permission granted using that department is also deleted.
Depending on how access permissions were configured, some view-restricted data could be publicly accessible.

Take an example of a situation that only the members of "HR Department" are granted to view the "employee directory app". In this case, deleting "HR Department" from Kintone Users & System Administration could make the app visible to the whole company.
