Overview

Kintone administrators can create and manage App Templates.

Creating a template is useful when users want to create multiple apps with similar settings. The templates created are available for non-administrative users to create apps. Templates can be exported to and imported from a file. Exported files can be imported into Kintone under different domains.

What are App Templates?

An app template is a model that users can use to create apps. When users use an app template to create an app, the settings defined in the template are preemptively applied to the new app. Users can then customize the settings if necessary, and quickly activate the app.

App templates can be created from existing apps. Creating or deleting app templates requires Kintone administration permission.

Creating a Template from an App

This section explains how to create a template from an existing app.

You can include multiple apps in an app template. Additionally, when an app references other apps for the following settings, the referenced apps are automatically included in the template:

  • Lookup fields
  • Related Records fields
  • App actions

Please note:

  • Only Kintone Administrators can create templates from apps.
  • Templates can be created only from activated apps.
  • Templates include only the app settings that are applied to the current environment.

How to Create a New App Template:

  1. From the Gear wheel gear_wheel.PNG select Kintone Administration.
  2. Under Apps, select App Templates.
  3. Click New.
  4. Search for or select the app you want to template and click Next.
  5. Enter a Name for your template.
  6. Under Icon, click Browse to upload a custom icon.
  7. Under Template Images, click Browse to upload optional screen shots of the app.
    • Add up to 100 images and 5 MB of data.
    • Users can preview these images when creating an app from a template.
  8. Enter an optional Description for your template.
  9. Click Screen_Shot_2017-04-18_at_5.31.55_PM.png.

You can import and export app templates via zip files. This allows you to import a template from another domain into your domain.
