Creating an Action in an App

Use Actions in an app to perform functions when editing records. Actions copy data from the record you are editing and create a new record in a different app that has been defined.

To create a new action:
  1. Within an app, click the Gear wheel Screen_Shot_2017-07-19_at_9.43.03_AM.png on the right.
  2. Under Advanced Settings, select Actions.
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter a Name for your action button.
  5. The Source field shows the name of the app the action will reside in.
  6. In the Target field, select the app that is the target of the action.
  7. Select source and target fields in Field Mappings.
    • If you select no field mapping, the button opens a new blank record in the target app.
    • If the source and target apps are the same, pressing the action button puts the value of the source field into the target field of a new record in the same app.
    • To map fields, select a field in the source app that you want to affect the field in the target app.
    • To add and delete more field mappings, use the Add icon  and  icon.
  8. In Available To, select one or more users who can perform the action.
  9. To edit the action, click the Edit icon.
  10. To delete an action, click the Trash Can .
  11. Click Save.
  12. Click Update App.

Note: Actions are only available from a desktop. You can't use this feature via the mobile view.
