This section explains the features in Misc Settings for apps.

Accessing Misc App Settings 

  1. Within an app, click the Gear wheel Screen_Shot_2017-07-19_at_9.43.03_AM.png on the right.
  2. Under Advanced Settings, select Misc Settings.

Setting Thumbnail Image Display

This section explains the setting on whether to display thumbnail images that are attached to records (small images). If the thumbnail display is enabled, when an image in one of the following formats is attached to the "Attachment" field, the thumbnail image is displayed.

  • BMP
  • GIF
  • JPG
  • PNG

When you click the thumbnail, the image is displayed in the actual size. When the actual size of the image is larger than the size of your browser, the size of the image fits your browser. By default, the thumbnail display is enabled.

Changes in Thumbnail Display by Setting

 Thumbnail Display Setting  Display example
 Enabled  The thumbnail is displayed.

 Disabled  The file name is displayed.

Please note:

  • If the size of the image file is more than 10 MB, the thumbnail is not displayed. The file name will be displayed in its place. 

How to Set the Thumbnail Image Display:

  1. From Misc Settings, select the Show thumbnails check box. To disable the thumbnail display, clear the check box.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Setting the App Code

App code refers to a code for identifying an app. The app code set will be reflected in record numbers. Example: if "Kintone" is set as the app code, the record number is "Kintone-1".

A record number with an app code, like the example above, becomes a link to the corresponding record when written into Kintone apps or spaces

Please note: 
  • Once set, an app code cannot be changed.
  • The app code setting can also be applied to record numbers that are retrieved by REST APIs.
  • An app code must be unique across apps.
  • The code must start with a letter, and can contain up to 64 letters and numbers.

How to set an App Code:

  1. From Misc Settings, enter an app code in the App Code field.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Configuring Bulk Deletion

Before bulk deleting, you must enable the Bulk Delete feature. For more information on bulk deleting records, visit Bulk Delete.

How to Enable Bulk Deletion:

  1. From Misc Settings, select Enable bulk deletion of records.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Change History

With History, you can check the history of changes that occurred within a record. By default, this feature is enabled. For more information on History, visit History Logs for App Records.

How to disable Change History:

  1. From Misc Settings, uncheck Track change history of records.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Please note:

  • If disabled, all change history will be permanently deleted.

Comment in Records

With comments, users are able to post comments on individual records. By default, this feature is enabled.

How to disable Comments:

  1. From Misc Settings, uncheck Enable comments.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Setting the Significant Digits of Numbers and Rounding Method

You can set the significant digits of numbers and the rounding method for the following fields:

  • Number
  • Calculated (if the date format is set to "Number")

If set, auto calculation that combines multiple fields are applied to each field value that uses the formula concerned.

Please note: 

  • When this setting is changed, the next time a record is updated the values in the Number and Calculated fields change according to the setting change.
    • The numbers cannot be restored once changed.

Procedure:

  1. In Misc Settings, set the following:
    • Total Number of Digits: Specify the maximum total number of digits that includes the decimal part, between the integer 1 to 30.
      • The number of digits for the integral part can be entered up to the number of the Total Number of Digits minus the Number of Decimal Places to Round.
    • Number of Decimal Places to Round: Set the significant digits of the decimal part with an integer between 0 and 10.
    • Rounding: Select the rounding method for the decimal part.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.

Changing the First Month of Fiscal Year

To set the first month of the fiscal year, the graph feature and the sum feature are used. With the graph feature and the sum feature, you can summarize data per quarter with the value in the Date and time field.

For example, in an app for managing product sales data, you may set the first month of the fiscal year to April. In this case, you can summarize the sales data for each of the following four periods:

  • The first quarter (April to June)
  • The second quarter (July to September)
  • The third quarter (October to December)
  • The fourth quarter (January to March)
Please note: 
  • By default, the first month of the fiscal year is set to January.

How to change First Month of Fiscal Year:

  1. From Misc Settings, select a month in First Month of Fiscal Year.
  2. Click Save on the upper left side of the screen and Update App.
